The Orange County Public Library does not provide obituary or genealogy research service.
Dates of death and birth, and location of last Social Security payment may be verified in the Social Security Death Index available free online at: www.ancestry.com
The following is a list of libraries and organizations that provide such services.
Orange County California Genealogical Society
The Orange County California Genealogical Society has volunteers who will do obituary, birth, marriage, christening and other searches. The volunteers search courthouse and church records as well as local newspapers in various locations.

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church)
The Church has Family History- Genealogical Centers at many of their locations, with computer programs, microform, catalogs and books. They are connected to the main genealogy library in Salt Lake City. The centers are open to the public, and the research is free. There is a nominal charge for material requested from Salt Lake City. Garden Grove Historical Society
Garden Grove Historical Society will do limited obituary searches for no charge. They will only search their holdings of the local "Garden Grove News" from 1950 to 1985, when it ceased publication. Send your request and a self-addressed envelope to:
